The main theme of this book is repentance. Repentance is the act of asking God to

forgive past sins, receiving forgiveness, and being spiritually renewed. Throughout

the Bible (both the Old Testament and New Testament), there are various figures who

call for repentance, including Jesus Christ. They call for turning away from sin and

turning to God fully. Repentance is also linked to restoration and service to God

[Jeremiah 15:19-20]. Jesus’ call for repentance [Luke 5:31-32] was with the explicit

intent of repentance being the initial and core response to hearing the Word of God

(The Gospel, the good news of salvation) and being transformed inwardly, by faith, to

live in a way that reflects true communion with God in obedience.
